How to Send an SMS to 8800
To sign up for the free solar panel scheme, send a text message to 8800 with the following details:
- SOLAR (the keyword for the scheme)
- Your CNIC number
- Your full name
- Your address

You must be using 200 or fewer units of electricity to qualify. After you send your SMS you will receive a confirmation message from 8800. The process and eligibility criteria may change so make sure to check for the latest information

The scheme is available to people using up to 200 units of electricity and the government will cover the cost of the inverter battery, and wiring for the system. You did not need to pay any money for these items.
8800 SMS CNIC Registration
If you use more than 200 units of electricity such as 500 units, the government will pay for 10% of your solar panel cost. You will need to pay the remaining 90%, but you can do this in small installments without any interest. It is important to check your electricity bill to see if you qualify. If your electricity meter is not registered in your name, you not be able to benefit from the solar panel system. Make sure the meter and SIM card are both registered under your name before sending the message.
